剣司と衛のパイロットとしての登用が決まり、動揺する近藤家と小楯家。衛の父・保は、息子のためにしてやれることはマンガを描くことだと思い、苦しみながらも原稿を進めることに。そんな時、フェストゥムが島へと接近してきた。
ファフナーの指揮の問題で総士と史彦がぶつかるものの、なんとか出撃していく咲良・剣司・衛の３人。総士の戦術指揮ミスで、ピンチに陥ってしまう３人だったが…。
