Johnny (Anthony Michael Hall), Walt (Chris Bruno), JJ (Connor Price), and Sarah (Nicole deBoer) are preparing to leave for the Faith Heritage Winter Festival when Johnny is thrown into a vision of a wake being held for Walt. Horrified when he realizes that Walt is in imminent danger, he pulls him aside to reveal what he’s seen. Walt is unsettled by the warning but makes Johnny promise to keep it from Sarah, who is now six months pregnant. Throughout the day, Johnny shadows Walt as he continues to be rocked by visions of his friend in jeopardy. With each new scenario, Johnny picks up vital clues that provide Walt with just enough time to stay out of harm’s way.
Meanwhile, Reverend Gene Purdy (David Ogden Stiers) has decided it’s time to sever his ties with Greg Stillson (Sean Patrick Flanery), who is now Vice President of the United States, and Malcolm Janus (Martin Donovan), the mastermind behind Stillson’s rise to national office. Eager to take back control of his ministry, Purdy tells Janus that he’s pulling the plug on the speech Stillson is scheduled to deliver at the festival. His open defiance of Janus’ agenda leads to a shocking tragedy and dramatic changes in all aspects of Johnny’s life, including his relationships with those closest to him. Most importantly, Johnny stops seeing visions of Armageddon when he shakes Stillson’s hand. Questioning his own abilities but still convinced that Stillson is dangerous, Johnny struggles to deal with an uncertain future.
