Johnny’s relationship with new Cleaves Mills sheriff Anna Turner (Cara Buono) gets off to a rocky start when she tells him that her department will no longer need his help. Moments later, Johnny has a vision of her shooting a woman outside a local pub. Anna dismisses him when he reveals what he’s seen, so he decides to investigate on his own. When Johnny tracks down the victim from his vision, a psychiatrist named Nina Jorgensen (Deborah Odell), she’s skeptical of his psychic powers and suggests that he make an appointment. His insistence on trying to save people, whether they want his help or not, leads to a subsequent fight Johnny has with Sarah (Nicole deBoer) who is desperately struggling to deal with Walt’s death and the reality of single motherhood.
Johnny decides to try a new approach to win over Anna, but ends up even more annoyed with her when he discovers that she has launched an investigation into Walt’s affairs prior to his death. Although they ultimately work together to resolve the scenario involving Nina’s shooting, Anna still believes Johnny is more of a hindrance than a help. With the case resolved, Johnny reaches out to Sarah and they are able to come to a new understanding. Sarah, however, realizes that she and JJ (Connor Price) can no longer live happily in the house she and Walt bought before his death and in the end, Johnny invites them to move in with him.
