Charlie Stickney the office doormat gets no respect even on his birthday - his boss Rick gives him a gag doll, Mr. Motivation, and assigns him a load of work. The toy begins talking on its own, forcing Charlie to ask his co-worker on a date and stand up to Rick, who wants Charlie to help him cover-up a recall effort. Mr. Motivation keeps popping up and giving advice and Charlie begins to feel he's nuts. Finally he takes the toy's advice and turns in his boss, beating him up in a final confrontation with a little help from...Mr. Motivation.
