Mrs. Wainright arrives at the National Justice project to plead her husband's case because she believes he's innocent and wants to help clear his name. She has been very persistent and had sent seven letters to the Project with no response.

The team, led by investigator Charles Conti, begins investigating the Wainright case. David Swain, high-powered attorney and Conti's partner in the Justice project, is leaning towards not taking it until he receives a phone call from the FBI and becomes convinced there might be more to it. As he hangs up the phone, he announces, "We're taking the case."
