Elliot asks J.D. for a kiss, but after they're interrupted by Dr. Cox J.D. has to make a move in 48 hours before going to "the friend zone". Meanwhile, Elliot has problems with Dr. Kelso calling her sweetheart and goes for Dr. Cox for advice, who tells her to confront Dr. Kelso. She does, but later realizes her mistake and thanks Dr. Cox for his advice on fighting her own battles, when Dr. Cox really wanted was to be left alone for once. And J.D. feels neglected by Turk, who has been spending a lot of time with Carla and so little time with him. J.D. even thinks of reporting what could be a mistake from Turk on the very first man he closed up after surgery. J.D. finally remembers that his 48 hours are almost over and rushes to Elliot, but he's too late. He's in the "friends zone".
