The audience vote is in, and one finalist will be awarded the million-dollar Grand prize and deemed to be the next great American Inventor.
The search for the next great American Inventor culminates in tonight's season finale episode. National casting calls were held in six major cities across the country -- Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Houston and Tampa. Thousands of inventors, tinkerers and entrepreneurs of all ages applied. The panel of judges saw thousands of inventors and selected one winner from each city to receive $50,000, a ticket to Los Angeles, and one month to perfect their invention with the dream of seeing their product on shelves across the country and winning the one million dollar grand prize. The inventors worked with design companies and focus groups to develop the perfect prototype and prepare for the most important product pitch of their lives. And last week, the judges were challenged with the difficult task of narrowing it down to three inventions -- based on the selection criteria of innovation, mass appeal, marketability and passionate pitch -- and the audience was called upon to vote.
In tonight's episode, "American Inventor" will journey back and revisit some of the wonderful and zany ideas that inventors brought before the judges. An award will be given to the best of the worst, and the show will pay homage to the great American ingenuity and inventiveness that has been witnessed during the past few weeks. In the end, based on America's vote, one finalist will be crowned the next great American Inventor. |
