Johnny (Anthony Michael Hall) has been on the road, running from the problems he and Sarah (Nicole deBoer) are facing in their relationship. When he stops at a back country gas station and calls her, he is devastated to learn that she and the kids are moving out of his house. Things get even worse when a kitschy postcard of The Pink Spoon Bar & Grill in rural Fallsburg, Indiana sends him into a vision. To his horror, he sees the lifeless body of his good friend Alex Sinclair (Jennifer Finnegan), also a psychic, in the trunk of his rental car. Johnny calls Alex, warning her to stay away from the town before proceeding to investigate. He makes his way to Fallsburg and immediately gets into a car accident with a tough-talking local, leaving him stranded for the night. Strolling into the Pink Spoon, he hits it off immediately with the bar's sassy owner, Wanda Purcell (Lois Dellar). Defending her honor later that evening, Johnny, who's been drinking heavily, gets into a fistfight with the same brute from the car accident.
The next morning, Johnny wakes up with a nasty hangover and soon finds himself under arrest for the murder of the rowdy local. Determined to save Alex, he's forced to make a run from the law and luckily, she arrives on the scene just in time to help him escape. Meanwhile, a distraught Sarah finds a friend and confidant in Greg Stillson (Sean Patrick Flannery). She opens up to him about her uncertain future and her problems with Johnny. Not only does Stillson give Sarah advice, he also provides valuable information about the investigation into Walt that could change her future. Back in Fallsburg, Johnny discovers this small town has some very big problems. Proving two psychics are better than one, Johnny and Alex use their unique talents to take on an illegal smuggling ring, escape a watery grave, and collaborate with a ghost to stay alive. In the end, they discover a surprising connection to Wanda.
