The Dead Zone (2002) - 6x12 - Ambush

Plot Outline
Johnny (Anthony Michael Hall) returns home from his self-imposed exile to find that Sarah (Nicole deBoer) and the kids are preparing to move into the cabin Walt left them. He's clearly dismayed by this turn of events, but can only persuade Sarah to stay for one more night. Hoping to salvage his family life, Johnny resolves to uncover what Walt (Chris Bruno) was investigating, and heads off to see if he can get more information from Sheriff Turner (Cara Buono). When Johnny learns that Turner has taken the day off, he begins touching items in her office in an attempt to trigger a vision. Suddenly, he flashes on Walt working his secret investigation. Moments later, Johnny is hit with a second vision. This time he sees Sheriff Turner, whispering “Abraham Lincoln” as the name of her killer with her dying breath. Walt's investigation and Sheriff Turner's life appear to be inextricably linked, but Johnny is confused about the connection.

Johnny finally catches up to Turner, who is tracking a man named Leo Vitali (Sam Stone), the same man who originally told Turner about Walt's cabin. After Johnny warns her about his vision of her dying, Turner agrees to team up with him. They eventually find Vitali in a local bar, but he's in no condition to talk. When Turner decides to take him back to the station, the three of them narrowly escape death when a man wearing an Abraham Lincoln mask attempts to kill them in a drive-by shooting. Thinking they've avoided the fate Johnny foresaw in his vision, they drag Leo back to the precinct to let him sober up before questioning him. A little later, the same masked gunman infiltrates the station. In the ensuing gunfight, the three retreat to Turner's office, but are cut off from all escape routes. The situation gets worse when Johnny realizes Turner has been shot and is quickly losing blood. Johnny skills are pushed to the limit as he desperately tries to find a way out of this deadly stand-off in order to solve the mystery of Walt's investigation.
