A couples therapist is shot in her family home. Detective Mike Logan (Chris Noth) and his new partner Detective Nola Falacci (Alicia Witt) investigate the murder, and they initially suspect one of her patients. As they follow that trail, it doubles back to her husband and his work as a Brooklyn Divorce Court judge. It turns out the judge is for sale and his wife's murder was an act of revenge.
