The Official is badly beat up by a mysterious, invisible intruder. Since the Agency only knows of one Invisible Man, they go after Fawkes. However, they soon realize thanks to Ebert there's another Invisible Man: Simon Cole, an intelligence operative who was the first one given a gland. Fawkes and Hobbes go after Cole's girlfriend Ivy, and Fawkes spots Cole by Quicksilvering his eyes and spotting him in the ultraviolet. Cole escapes, and Fawkes, Hobbes, and the Keeper go out to the lab where Darien was "created". They find Cole's journal and try to capture him again. However, the Official manages to reveal there was only one gland, and the Keeper figures out that Fawkes is "channeling" Cole in his sleep: the Quicksilver gland has memory RNA of Cole from before it was harvested and put into Darien. The RNA is leaking into Fawkes' pineal gland, and so Darien is acting as Cole when he goes to sleep and dreams. Darien-as-Cole goes berserk, but is captured and they use an injection to break down Cole's chemical memories, although they can't break off the connection between the two glands.
