Michael Whaley has been involved with the entertainment industry for most of his life. A native of Long Beach, California, Michael grew up in the theatre, watching his mother perform, and eventually getting his opportunity by the age of fourteen. Whether acting, writing, directing, or producing, Michael has for more than a decade established a successful career in the entertainment industry. Throughout his professional career as an actor, Michael has appeared in dozens of television shows and films. Most recently, he appears as Detective Bernstein on _“C.S.I.: Miami”(2002)_ on CBS. From 1998-2000, he played Detective Paul Armstrong on the CBS television series _“Early Edition” (1996)_ . From 1996-1997, he was a series regular on the NBC television series _“Profiler” (1996)_ in the role of Detective Nathan Brubaker, and from 1994-1996, he played Dr. Wes Hayes on yet another NBC series, _“Sisters” (1991)_ Michael has also made numerous guest star appearances on shows which include: _“JAG” (1995)_ , _“Frasier” (1993)_ , _“ER” (1994)_ , “Any Day Now,” _“Vengeance Unlimited” (1998)_ , _“Sons of Thunder” (1999)_ , _“L.A. Law” (1986)_ , _“Party of Five” (1994)_ , _“Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The” (1990)_ , _“I'll Fly Away” (1991))_ , _“Hangin' with Mr. Cooper” (1992)_ , _“Hunter” (1984)_ , _“Midnight Caller” (1988)_ , “Gabriel's Fire,” “Grapevine,” _“Different World, A” (1987)_ , _“Living Single” (1993)_ , and _“Beverly Hills, 90210” (1990)_ .In addition to his television credits, Michael also appeared in the feature films Class Act (1992), The Nation, and Separate Lives (1995). He has also starred in several movies for television and cable, including Boy Meets Girl, _"Running Against Time" (1990)_ , and _Twice Upon a Time (1998)_ _. As a producer/director, Michael has many years of experience, working with music video and theatre productions. In 1992 Michael was one of two partners who started the music video production company NOIR FILM, which quickly became a force in the rap music video industry. As executive producer of more than a two dozen music videos, Michael oversaw production for musical artists such as Tone Loc, Tupac Shakur, Black Pearl, KRS 1, For Non Blondes, and Technotronics. His company also produced most of the music videos directed by the Hughes Brothers (Allen Hughes and Albert Hughes). He has also produced and/or directed several stage productions, including the hit production "GLASSHOUSE", which received a 1991 NAACP Image Award nomination for Best Theatre Production. As a writer, Michael has written several scripts and story concepts for television, feature film, and animation. Several of his scripts have been optioned for development. He has also collaborated on numerous other projects as well as developing independent projects of his own. In September of 2001, Michael began production for a romantic comedy feature film entitled "The Croquet Game", in which he wrote, produced, directed and starred. |
