World featherweight boxing champion, 1985-1986.
Inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame, 2000.
Was appointed an MBE in 1994.
Inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame June 12, 2005.
He allegedly declined the M.B.E. (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 1986 but accepted it in 1994 for his services to boxing.
His father, Pat McGeegan' represented Ireland in the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest. |
