He played cricket, hockey and football at school. He hosted the British Asian Sports Personality of the Year in 2002.
He was inspired to take up acting by watching Grange Hill. He enrolled in a Sunday acting workshop when he was 13.
He has one sister.
He's also appeared in several plays, including Wicked Year, Balti Kings, The Skeleton, Ungrateful Dead, Crazy Horse and Papa Was A Bus Conductor.
Helped launch a National Kidney Research Fund initiative in July of 2002. The campaign is designed to encourage members of the South Asian and African- Caribbean communities to come forward and receive a free test for kidney disease.
