Raised in Kansas City, graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, majoring in theatre. Ben got his start at age 11 understudying in "Oliver" at Starlight Theatre in Kansas City. In high school, at Shawnee Mission North, Ben appeared in such productions as "Amadeus", "Brighton Beach Memoirs", "The Foreigner", "Man of La Mancha", "Peter Pan" (with Flying by Foy), and as Atticus in "To Kill a Mockingbird". After college Ben trained at Chicago's Second City Training Center. He also trained under Uta Hagen at the Piven Workshop in Evanston. Chicago theatre productions include "Assassins" (Apple Tree Theatre) directed by Gary Griffin (dir., "The Color Purple"), the original cast of "now then again" (Bailiwick Repertory/Ivanhoe Theatre), and Wendy Wasserstein's "An American Daughter" (rewritten by Ms. Wasserstein for Organic Theater Company). Other theatres include Shakespeare Repertory (now Chicago Shakespeare Theatre), Royal George Theater, Next Theater, American Theater Company, and Prairie del' Arte/Victory Gardens. Los Angeles theatres include Odyssey Theatre, The Blank Theatre Company, City Garage, Open Fist Theatre Company, Knightsbridge and 2100 Square Feet. Ben has guest starred on "Wicked Wicked Games", recurred on "Jericho", and appeared on "Inside Schwartz" and "The Unit".Ben has garnered two Chicago Jeff Awards, an LA Weekly Award, and three LA Weekly Award nominations. |
