Karren Brady is to take over from Margaret Mountford as an adviser to Lord Sugar on TV show The Apprentice.

Ms Mountford quit at the end of the last series to pursue academic studies.

A spokeswoman for production company Talkback Thames said 40-year-old Ms Brady would be at Sir Alan's side for the sixth series.

APPRENTICE sidekick Margaret Mountford last night quit the show.

The white-haired cult favourite, 56, is leaving after five years to finish her doctorate on ancient Egyptian manuscripts.

Corporate lawyer Margaret and colleague Nick Hewer act as Sir Alan Sugar’s “eyes and ears” on the BBC1 show.

The pair watch the wannabes bumble through their tasks before reporting to the business guru.

But she has told Sir Alan she will bow out after tomorrow night’s finale to concentrate on her PhD in papyrology.

Apprentice aides Nick Hewer and Margaret Mountford have been approached to star in Strictly Come Dancing.

The pair, who advise Sir Alan Sugar on the BBC show, have reportedly been offered £25,000 each to appear in the dance contest's next series.
