It would seem that fans will only have to wait until this summer to see the conclusion of season four's cliffhanger, as SGA should return in July this year.

Leela Savasta joins 'Stargate Atlantis'

Leela Savasta who has appeared in season three's 'Tao of Rodney' and in other tv shows like Smallville, Supernatural and Bionic Woman, will possibly enter as a recurring role starting is season five episode one. According to Joseph Mallozzi, she will be first assigned to Shepard's off world team, then possibly added onto another team.

Torri Higginson who played Dr. Elizabeth Wier for three seasons before becoming involved with the replicators after being almost killed in the season three finale, has been reported to have turned down the chance to continue her new replicator storyline arc in a season five episode.

Robert Picardo Joins 'Stargate Atlantis'

"Stargate Atlantis" begins shooting its fifth season soon, and with it comes the addition of a new cast member and an important milestone.
The People's Choice Award winner will begin production later in February for its new 20-episode season that will include the series' benchmark 100th episode, it was announced Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Also, actor Robert Picardo, who has appeared as International Oversight Committee rep Richard Wooley on previous episodes will officially join the "Atlantis" cast this season as he takes command of the Atlantis expedition. The team of military and civilian explorers use the Ancients-created Stargate to travel to the Pegasus galaxy in order to find other technologies left behind the Ancients.

SCI-FI Channel has officially given the greenlight for a well-deserved 5th season, couting 20 episodes, the last one being the 100th episode of Atlantis!
