Bruce Forsyth has been forced to pull out of presenting Strictly Come Dancing this Saturday because he has flu, the BBC has said.

A BBC spokesman said the 81-year-old would be missing the show "on doctor's orders".

He added that co-presenter Tess Daly would be taking on Forsyth's hosting role.

BBC One's dance spectacular Strictly Come Dancing is hot-footing it to the spiritual home of all things ballroom as the show decamps to Blackpool for one night only, as part of the sparkling seventh series.

Bringing a touch of old-world grandeur and glamour to the smash hit show, Blackpool's famous Tower Ballroom will play host to a special edition of the programme on Saturday 7 November 2009.

The star contestants for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing include boxer Joe Calzaghe, the BBC has revealed.

Actress Lynda Bellingham, Crimewatch host Rav Wilding, ex-cricketer Phil Tufnell and tennis champion Martina Hingis will also take part.

Hollyoaks' Ricky Whittle and The Bill's Ali Bastian, EastEnder Ricky Groves and Natalie Cassidy will compete with BBC Breakfast's Chris Hollins.

Ex-Footballers Wives star Zoe Lucker is also among the competitors. Lucker will take to the dancefloor against her co-star from the ITV melodrama, actress Laila Rouass.

Athlete Jade Johnson and jockey Richard Dunwoody will also represent the world of sport in the series, which begins on BBC One on Friday 18 September.

Jo Wood, the estranged wife of Rolling Stone Ronnie and actor Craig Kelly - who plays factory manager Luke Strong in Coronation Street - complete the line-up.

Amy Winehouse will reportedly feature as a backing singer on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The star will sing alongside her 13-year-old goddaughter Dionne Bromfield towards the end of September.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: "She’ll do anything to help Dionne become a huge success, and Strictly was just too big an opportunity for them to not take.

BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing is to drop its Sunday night results programme, it has been announced.

Viewers will see couples compete, face the public vote and have the dance-off all in a single extended programme on Saturday evenings.

The pre-recorded Sunday show was introduced in 2007, but proved unpopular with many viewers.
