Show Summary
From Emmy Award-winning executive producer J.J. Abrams ("Fringe," "Lost," the "Star Trek" and "Mission: Impossible" franchises) and creator/executive producer J.H. Wyman ("Fringe," "The Mexican"), comes ALMOST HUMAN. Starring Karl Urban ("Star Trek") and Michael Ealy ("Sleeper Cell," "Common Law"), the new series is an action-packed police drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.

The year is 2048. Meet JOHN KENNEX (Urban), a cop who survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. After waking up from a 17-month coma, he can't remember much – except that his partner was killed; his girlfriend, ANNA MOORE (guest star Mekia Cox, "Crazy, Stupid, Love.," "Undercovers"), left him after the attack; and he lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage.

Suffering from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the "psychological rejection of his synthetic body part," John returns to work at the behest of longtime ally Captain SANDRA MALDONADO (Emmy Award nominee Lili Taylor, " Six Feet Under," "Ransom"). By mandate, every cop must partner with a robot. And despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is paired up with a battle-ready MX-43. But he abruptly terminates his partnership after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. So technician RUDY LOM (Mackenzie Crook, "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise) introduces John to DORIAN (Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses. Although such responses were deemed flaws, it is in these "flaws" that John relates to Dorian most. After all, John is part-machine now, and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian's understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.

Plot
1x01 - Pilot:
This series follows the week-to-week missions of JOHN KENNEX (Urban), a detective and sole survivor of a devastating police ambush, and his robot partner, DORIAN (Ealy), as this buddy-cop duo solves cases and fight to keep the lid on dangerously evolved criminals in this futuristic landscape.
1x02 - Skin:
In night two of the series premiere, Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) and Dorian (Michael Ealy) are dispatched to investigate a murder and high-profile missing persons case that lead them into the highly profitable world of IRCs - Intimate Robot Companions - also known as sexbots. Meanwhile, Kennex looks to reconcile a part of his troubled past.
1x03 - Are You Receiving?:
The thrilling action continues in another all-new, adrenaline-fueled episode. Detective Kennex and Dorian battle an intense and futuristic hostage situation, while Captain Maldonado (Lili Taylor) attempts to meet the terrorist's demands, hoping to protect innocent people.
1x04 - The Bends:
An old cop friend of Detective Kennex's (Karl Urban) goes undercover, posing as a "cook" of a highly addictive street drug called "The Bends." But his cover is blown. As the scope of the intense drug investigation unfolds, a determined Kennex and Dorian (Michael Ealy) call on Rudy Lom (Mackenzie Crook) for assistance.
1x05 - Blood Brothers:
Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) and Dorian (Michael Ealy) are tasked with protecting the only remaining witness in a major murder trial, while Captain Maldonado (Lili Taylor) faces off with the defendant.
1x06 - Arrhythmia:
Detective John Kennex and Dorian respond to a suspicious death at a hospital where - before having a fatal cardiac arrest - a man claimed someone was trying to kill him, and inexplicably knew his exact time of death. As the investigation unfolds, a black market for vital organs is uncovered in which bio-mechanical hearts can be resold and remotely "shut off." As the team fights to find the pulse of this 2048 tech-centric crime, Dorian reconnects with a decommissioned DRN.
1x07 - Simon Says:
Det. Kennex and Dorian investigate Simon (guest star David Dastmalchian), a psychopathic killer who is strapping bombs to his victims' neck and broadcasting their final moments over the internet. When Simon targets Kennex, the team is in a nail-biting race against time to save his life. Meanwhile, a power deficiency affects Dorian's energy level, causing him to have unexpected outbursts.
1x08 - You Are Here:
Det. Kennex and Dorian investigate a crime scene involving a self-guided bullet that can track, target and kill specific people at any moment. Meanwhile, Maldonado revisits the deadly ambush that almost killed Kennex.
1x09 - Unbound:
There are consequences and casualties when Danica (guest star Gina Carano), an advanced DRN that operates more like a soldier than a cop, is rebuilt and on a rampage. With few clues about her mission, location and innocent lives being lost, Kennex (Karl Urban) and Dorian (Michael Ealy) look to Nigel (guest star John Larroquette), a genius roboticist and DRN creator, in attempt to track her down.
1x10 - Perception:
When Det. Kennex and Dorian investigate the simultaneous and sudden deaths of two genetically-enhanced - or "chrome" - children, a fatal dose of the perfect designer drug appears to be the cause. As the investigation unfolds and a recent drowning victim is mysteriously connected, the case takes an unexpected turn. Meanwhile, Kennex endures painful flashes from the past and pays a visit to the recollectionist.
1x11 - Disrupt:
A deadly crime from the future occurs when a "smart home" goes terribly bad and turns on its occupants. Detective Kennex and Dorian lead the investigation that forces them to interface with a house that is represented by a mysterious hologram character.
1x12 - Beholder:
When Det. Kennex and Dorian investigate the murder of a "chrome," there are no signs of trauma, other than a very small pinprick on the back of his neck. As the investigation unfolds, it's revealed that the murder suspect is tapping into the DNA of his victims in pursuit of perfectio.
1x13 - Straw Man:
Det. Kennex (Karl Urban) and Dorian (Michael Ealy) investigate a string of murders by a copycat of a serial killer whom Kennex's father (guest star John Diehl) put in jail. As the investigation unfolds, biotechnology from the future sheds light on crimes of the past. Meanwhile, Dorian receives his performance evaluation since being reactivated.
