Show Summary
Set at a small liberal-arts college in Manhattan, the show is an ensemble drama about the lives of resident and commuter students from all kinds of social and economic backgrounds and their teachers. The show specifically centers on a human behavior seminar where (the students) openly talk about their sexual lives or the lack of sexual lives and come to understand themselves and the world they live in better.

1x02 - The Truth About Sex:
The theme of the class is sexual responsibility as Lee (Ernest Waddell) receives news from his girlfriend that will change his life forever. Meanwhile Owen (Penn Badgley) sleeps with his sister Sarah’s (Tiffany Dupont) roommate, unearthing feelings that Natalie (Corri English) has for him.
1x03 - Tell Me No Secrets:
When details of Lee’s (Ernest Waddell) personal life appear in the student newspaper, Professor Macklin (Matthew Modine) declares the theme of the class to be confidentiality. Meanwhile newspaper editor Richard (Milo Ventimiglia) claims that running the story was within his First Amendment rights. Sarah (Tiffany Dupont) starts dating a sexy athlete (guest star Chris Hartl), who is secretly using her to help get funding for his team.
1x04 - Zen and the Art of Manipulation:
Richard (Milo Ventimiglia) begins a relationship with an older woman who, unbeknownst to him, is Professor Macklin’s (Matthew Modine) ex-wife, Katrina (guest star Dagmara Dominczyk). At the psychiatric center where Owen (Penn Badgley) and Natalie (Corri English) volunteer, a patient’s crush on Owen causes Natalie to see him in a new light. All the while, the students are learning about sexual manipulation, both in and out of the seminar.
1x05 - Love and the Tenth Planet:
The class discusses the difference between sex and love while Owen does his best to plan an impressive date for Natalie. Sarah dumps the athlete that she's been dating when she finds out the truth about why he's with her. Meanwhile, Lee gets sucked into the world of online gambling; and Richard attends the same concert as Professor Macklin and his wife.
1x06 - The Passion of the Beaver:
With the class topic of the week being "Passion", Zoe convinces herself, and the class, that she isn't passionate about anything. However, her mind is changed when she tries out for the school mascot. Natalie, finding that her passion is the health clinic, fights to keep it open, and Owen, knowing that his passion is Natalie, helps to keep the clinic open as well. Richard (Milo Ventimiglia) depressed over the loss of Katrina (guest star Dagmara Dominczyk), who has gone back to Professor Macklin (Matthew Modine), lands in the arms of his ex-girlfriend Natalie (Corri English), which makes Owen (Penn Badgley) jealous. Lee (Ernest Waddell) continues his downward spiral into a gambling addiction and is forced to buy a term paper for his most important class. Zoe (Victoria Cartagena) contemplates losing her virginity in an attempt to make Lee jealous.

Professor Macklin (Matthew Modine) makes abstinence the topic of the week.
