It's the perfect place to be a teenager. Beautiful beaches, crystal clear water, long sunny days. The cafes spill onto the streets, the streets spill onto the foreshore and the music spills across everything. The map calls it Blue Water Beach. The locals call it 'Heaven'. And bang in the middle of this paradise is a high performance surf academy where every year seven lucky sixteen year olds are selected for an intensive, twelve month residential surfing and schooling program. Selected from all over Australia, some have focused for years to get there; others have coasted in with the natural confidence of those who know they've been born to succeed. But once these kids walk through the door, everyone is on a level playing field and facing the same challenge. They know that it's what they do at Solar Blue Surf Academy that will determine where they go and what they become. And for two exceptional students, the year will form the launching pad to the world of their dreams.
Blue Water High is your average school in every sense except one. Solar Blue, an international sports wear company has established an academy attached to the school for students who are very good at one thing, surfing. The Academy has an awesome reputation and its pupils have been hand picked Australia wide to spend a year getting the best coaching around. At the end of that year, one boy and one girl will get the prize they all covet: qualification to surf the pro circuit and a three year sponsorship contract. It's the dream job of all time and the competition will be fierce.
