A cop comedy that mixed the anything-goes, joke-laden style of Police Squad! with the spot-on satire of The Comic Strip Presents.... The comedy double-act Arden and Frost (formerly called the Oblivion Boys) had become well known to TV viewers in a series of hilarious lager commercials and here they were cast as police partners Lazarus and Dingwall, members of the Really Serious Crime Squad. The partnership was part Starsky and Hutch, part Bodie and Doyle and part Abbott and Costello, and they investigated wildly improbable cases with the help and hindrance of a mixed bunch of incompetents, presided over by their equally lacklustre 'chief'.
